Flat Friends Flatter Fashion Blog – Spring 2020

Welcome to this seasonal blog featuring contributions from members of the Flat Friends UK private Facebook group. All the women in the group are living without reconstruction after single or double mastectomy, or are facing that decision. Below they share their tips, advice and photos of what they are wearing this Spring!
Sally Anne is our post surgery bikinis, swimwear & lingerie specialist! Here she is modelling three bikinis on her recent holiday to Gran Canaria. Sally Anne says, “Blue & pink £15 from Tesco last year; floral one from Next last year, and the bright one £8 from the supermarket next to the hotel!! I had a full node clearance on my left side so you can see a slight dint above the top & my radiotherapy triangle, but otherwise you would never know I’d had surgery. All worn with aqua knitted knockers”
Samantha spotted this swimsuit in Primark, with moulded cups and double frill.
Niki has got creative with swimwear from Sports Direct. Niki says, “I know some of you are like me in that, since going flat we love a ruffled top! I just found this in Sports Direct for £8.99! Technically it’s a tankini top but I’ve bought it as a going out top. The shoulder straps are adjustable to any length and the shape and layers are really flattering because there’s a panel of nicely fitting material behind the ruffles. There’s also the internal ‘bra shelf’ that you find in a lot of swimming costumes.”
Gilly has found the perfect pair of dungarees to suit her in the Very catalogue. Gilly says, “My Dexys Midnight Runners look is complete. I bought a size bigger to make sure they were baggy. Love them”
Ann has also gone for the dungaree/pinafore look with this pretty cotton corduroy pinafore with embroidered flowers from Sainsburys.
Lisa bought this stylish dress from Wallis, the flattering cut, and bold print look amazing on her!
Jane says, “I have had this 1920s dress for years! It needed a camisole underneath but it fits so much better now! Rocked the red carpet with absolute confidence last night at a fundraising film fancy dress party. Never thought I could feel so good.”
