Flatter Fashion Blog – Spring Summer 2023

Thank you to these amazing women for sharing themselves and their clothes! We hope they spark some inspiration for you…

Rachel

Rachel’s summer dress is by Monsoon and features the gathered bardot neckline and ruffle so many of us love post-mastectomy. Rachel says, “This lovely comfy dress is perfect for wearing with or without foobs.”

Leanne

Leanne bought this jumpsuit from Shein for ‘date night’. Halter-necks are flattering as they create the illusion of width across the chest. This style also incorporates pleats and gathers which adds depth and movement (and who doesn’t love polka dot?!).

Michaela

Michaela found all these dresses on Blue Vanilla. Michaels says, “I’m not wearing my fake boob in these photos so these would be good for those who don’t want to put their foobs in.”

Tanya

Tanya is wearing this year’s must-have: the tiered dress. Tanya’s is from Morrisons. Tanya says, “I;m wearing this with my Sloggi bra, but would hang well on flat too.” Tiered dresses are great if you like your clothes to hang loose as they flare from the chest or waist thanks to the increasing gathered seams.

Katie

Katie is back at work after her mastectomy and is embracing it! “I;ve decided to be a bit extra sassy as a flatty!”

Sally Anne

Sally Anne is modelling a cool chambray shirt dress by Cos for effortless style. Also by Cos is this stunning orange dress – the same pleated/gathered halterneck style we saw on Leanne’s jumpsuit, this time on a flowing dress if you prefer a looser fit.

Sally Anne’s pink Grecian dress is by Boden. Don’t think you need to avoid v-necks after a mastectomy. If you are conscious of a v-neck gaping, you could try ‘tit tape’ (the irony!) or wearing a bralette underneath.

Last up from Sally Anne is a beach dress by Ext. The perfect cover up to take you from beach to restaurant. The lacy overlay with a bikini or swimsuit underneath also adds the illusion of depth and shape.

Time to hit the beach

Jo

Jo bought this bandeau swimsuit from Marks and Spencer. Jo says, “It has no cups or underwire, and is high under the arms. It also has detachable straps and was on £19.50.”

Birgit

Birgit loves open water swimming and likes swimsuits by Delfina Curvy Bathers; Birgit says, “I like their unique prints which make me feel more confident.”

Nicola

Nicola bought this swimming dress from Amazon. Nicola says, “I’m really impressed. Rigid cups so no need for a prosthesis. I felt girly and covered up and it was very comfy. I was jumping the waves and everything stayed in place. The dress definitely helped my confidence.
