About Us:
We are a UK-based charity dedicated to supporting women who have undergone a single or double mastectomy due to breast cancer diagnosis or as preventative surgery, without immediate breast reconstruction. We provide information, practical advice, and emotional support to those who have chosen Flat Closure, those who are unable to have reconstruction for any reason, those awaiting delayed reconstruction, and those who are facing these decisions. We are seeking more trustees to help us achieve our ambitious goals.
You will be expected to attend regular board meetings and trustee meetings (approx. every 6 to 8 weeks), contribute to discussions, and support the charity’s work in a variety of ways. These are voluntary positions, with reasonable expenses reimbursed. As a trustee, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of mastectomy patients, while gaining valuable experience and developing your skills.
We are looking for trustees to take responsibility for social media/marketing, fundraising, and governance. These responsibilities could be overseen separately by three individuals, or combined (i.e. you may feel you have the skills and experience to incorporate marketing and fundraising, or cover fundraising and governance).
We are open to welcoming trustees who are either part of Flat Friends, or who can relate to our purpose and mission. The role of Trustee can be as big or small as the time you have available.
For an informal discussion with one of our trustees before applying, please email us at support@flatfriends.org.uk. The closing date for applications is 6th May 2024. Interviews will take place virtually during May 2024.
